The rates of pay for Plumbers/Pipefitters/Welders & Apprentices working in this sector are brought about by your Union.
Currently both Unions are engaged in a process to vary the current Sectoral Employment Order so that we can secure pay increases for our members. However, not all Contractors support the SEO system and there are a group who are not only opposed (to our members having guaranteed and protected rates of pay), but they are also actively attacking them.
That is why the Mechanical Contracting Sector is not receiving a pay increase on the 1st February 2022, however we are back in the Labour Court in early February 2022 and we will continue the fight for pay increases for our members.
So have a chat with your employer and ask them are they fighting for or against the fair SEO system that gives legal protections and a level playing field for all.
