Dear Colleague,
Connect Trade Union has been monitoring the situation in relation to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) closely. We are advising all members and staff to closely follow the advice issued by the HSE https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/coronavirus/coronavirus.html.
At this time HSE advice is as follows:
- People who have returned from a COVID-19 affected region in the last 14 days or who have been in close contact with a confirmed or probable COVID-19 case in the last 14 days, and have symptoms (a cough, shortness of breath, breathing difficulties or fever) should isolate themselves at home and phone their GP
- People who have been to an affected region in the last 14 days and are well and do not have any symptoms of respiratory disease, should visit hse.ie for up to date advice.
COVID-19 is spread through contact with an infected person’s body fluids (e.g. droplets from coughing or sneezing), or by touching surfaces that an infected person has coughed or sneezed on. So regular hand-washing and covering your mouth and nose when you sneeze, or cough, is the most important way to protect from COVID-19.
We will keep the situation under close review and will update you if this position changes. We also recommend you continue to review the advice from the HSE on a regular basis.
Paddy Kavanagh,
General Secretary,
Connect Trade Union.
